Ontario International Airport Transfers
After arriving at Ontario International Airport (ONT) please remember to retrieve your luggage from the Baggage Claim area before continuing to locate your chosen means of transfer from the airport. Available options of transfer from the airport include rental cars, public transportation and taxis, as well as private shuttles and ride share app services.
Transfers at Ontario International Airport
Rental Cars –Some of the car rental companies that offer their services at the airport are located either in the Rental Car Facility that is located on airport grounds, near Haven Avenue, or in their own premises off-airport grounds. The airport provides free shuttle service for transfer between the terminals and the Rental Car Facility and the various off-airport grounds car rental companies also offer transfer between the Facility and the chosen company’s office. Public Transportation Buses – Omnitrans is the local public transportation provider in San Bernardino Valley. They provide Bus Route 61 that runs between Pomona Transit Center and Fontana Metrolink with stops in Ontario city center, at Ontario International Airport and at Ontario Mills along the way. It takes approximately 15 minutes from the airport to Ontario city center as well as to Ontario Mills, and roughly 30 minutes to Pomona and 45 minutes to Fontana. Taxis – Official taxis are provided by Bell Cab and can be found at the taxi ranks located in front of the terminals, on the outer island. This includes wheelchair accessible vehicles. The journey to downtown Ontario will take approximately 10 minutes and it will cost $20-35, depending on a few variables such as exact location of the destination, traffic and time of travelling. Travelers arriving with a taxi will be dropped off in front of their terminal of departure.
Airport Shuttles – Airport shuttles are shuttles provided by the airport for convenient transfer between the airport’s different facilities and buildings. Shuttles are provided between the terminals as well as to and from the Car Rental Center. Visitors to or from the International Terminal can request a pick-up via phone at +1 909 937-1240 or they can make an in-shuttle stop request (when going to the International Terminal). Shuttles stop at the islands located between the terminals and the parking lots and in front of the Rental Car Center.
Hotel Shuttles – Hotels and motels in the Ontario area sometimes offer their guests an airport transfer service to conveniently transfer between the two locations of the airport and the hotel/motel. These transfers are organized by the traveler directly with the hotel in question, usually at least 72 hours in advance.
Ride Shares – It is possible to transfer from or to the airport using a Ride Share App service such as Uber, Lyft, Wingz or Opoli. These transfers are requested through the chosen company’s smartphone application.
Limousine and Other Shuttles – There is a number of companies available in the area that offer transfer services from or to the airport. These have to be booked in advance by the traveler or their representative. Location of collection will be provided by the chosen company.
Greyhound – The closest Greyhound station is located in Ontario and the only way to transfer there directly is via taxi. While it is possible to get to central Ontario via Omnitrans Bus Route 61 it still requires a 1.4 mi/2.2 km walk from the bus stop to Greyhound.
Trains – The airport doesn’t have a train platform on the premises, but it is possible to transfer to several train stations from the airport, or the other way around.
Metrolink, the regional rail system for passengers, serves more than 55 stations in the Southern California region.
The closest station is the Ontario-East Metrolink station which is located ca 3 mi/5 km from the airport. It is possible to transfer to the Car Rental Center using the airport shuttle and from there to take Omnitrans Bus Route 81 to the train station. The station serves the Riverside line that connects Riverside with Los Angeles Union Station.
There are also Metrolink stations in Pomona and Fontana that are directly connected with the airport via Omnitrans Bus Route 61. Pomona is 30 minutes going westbound and the station is a 5-minute walk from the end stop at Pomona Transit Center. Fontana is located 45 minutes eastbound and the Metrolink Station is the end stop. Amtrak – The closest Amtrak station is located in downtown Ontario, a couple of minutes from the closest bus stop on Omnitrans Bus Route 61 that serves the airport.
